Privacy Policy
1040Life is an estimated-tax planning and recordkeeping application. It does not file tax returns and does not ask users to enter Social Security numbers, ITINs, or EINs in this release.
Information stored on your device
Core tax-planning records are stored locally on the user’s device. The core app does not require a 1040Life cloud account or 1040Life server. Users control the records they enter and may remove records using available in-app controls. Uninstalling the app removes local app data, subject to device backup and operating-system behavior.
Optional profile photo
If a user chooses a profile picture, 1040Life uses the operating system photo picker. On Android, the app is configured not to request broad photo-library access. Camera access is not requested for this feature.
Location and mileage
1040Life requests precise location only for the Mileage feature after the user starts a trip. If the user grants background location, a user-started mileage trip can continue recording while the app is in the background, closed, or the screen is locked. Location is used to calculate and document mileage. 1040Life does not sell location data or use it for advertising.
Sharing
The Share 1040Life feature opens the operating system share sheet and shares only the 1040Life download message/link. It does not attach or share taxpayer records. 1040Life does not request broad access to the user’s contacts list for this feature. A user may separately choose to share a report they generated.
AI assistance
AI explanations are educational assistance. Saved 1040Life calculations remain the source of estimated taxpayer numbers. Live online AI services are not required for core functionality and are not enabled in this release unless a separate service is configured later.
Third-party platform services
1040Life uses normal Apple and Google platform services for functionality such as map display, the system share sheet, and the system photo picker. Those platform providers may process service data under their own terms and privacy policies. 1040Life does not sell tax records or location data.
Retention and deletion
1040Life does not maintain a required cloud account for core app data in this release. Local records remain on the user’s device until the user edits or removes them, clears app data where the operating system permits, or uninstalls the app. Device backups may retain copies according to the user’s Apple or Google backup settings.
Children
1040Life is a tax-planning tool and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when 1040Life changes its data practices. The effective date shown above will be updated when material changes are made.
